Police were called to the home of 62-year-old
Lynn Hernan in 2018; when they arrived, they found her dead in her living room recliner next to a table of prescription pills and what appeared to be crushed medication on her chest. The case was initially ruled a drug overdose, so this sad tale had an explanation.
Not so fast! The toxicology report for Hernan’s remains came back from the lab and led police to arrest 37-year-old
Jessy R. Kurczewski on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony theft. She was the person that called the police in 2018, telling them she went to Hernan’s house as her “caretaker” and found her non-responsive. What led to the arrest? That toxicology report showed Hernan had a fatal dose of the main ingredient in over-the-counter eye drops.
